Internship Programme for Advanced Certificate in Digital Library Applications

VuFind.org, USA and HealthNet, Nepal, in association with Mahatma Gandhi University Library, organise an internship programme for participants of the Advanced Certificate in Digital Library Applications (ACDLA) programme. VuFind is an Open Source library search engine project initiated by Villanova University, USA. HealthNet Nepal is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) that serves the Nepalese health community by providing affordable Internet service, access to health information, and technical support for several regional information-sharing initiatives. This programme aims to provide practical experience and enhance the theoretical knowledge gained by the participants.

Programme Objectives

To provide ACDLA participants with hands-on experience in various aspects of digital library applications (Koha ILS, WordPress, DSpace, VuFind, Subject Plus).

To bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application of digital library skills.

To contribute to the professional development of librarians and equip them with skills relevant to the evolving library landscape.

To foster collaboration between the Mahatma Gandhi University Library and the ACDLA programme.

To share knowledge and skillsets amongst Mahatma Gandhi University Library professionals and other academic institutions.

Programme Details

Eligibility: ACDLA programme participants. 

Library professionals at other institutions can join the add-on workshops during the internship programme by paying the registration fee.

Venue: Mahatma Gandhi University Library.

Duration: 15 Days. 22 March 2024 – 6 April 2024.

Supervision and evaluation: The intern will be assigned a dedicated supervisor who will provide guidance and mentorship throughout the programme. Interns will be evaluated based on their project work, participation, and overall performance.
