Mahatma Gandhi University has been reaccredited with an A++ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in the fourth cycle with a CGPA score of 3.61. Mahatma Gandhi University is the first University in Kerala to achieve A++ in the fourth reaccreditation cycle.
The final decision was made after several rounds of evaluation, considering the report submitted by the NAAC peer team that visited the University from March 5 to 7. The declaration came today, and the grading will be valid for five years from March 14.
The evaluation was based on parameters like Curricular Aspects, Teaching-Learning & Evaluation, Research, Innovations & Extension, Infrastructure & Learning Resources, etc. The peer team inspected the main offices, study departments, research centres, innovation and entrepreneurship centres, hostels, and common facilities for a detailed assessment. They interacted with people from various strata associated with the University.
MGU has made significant strides in recent years in activities related to learning, research, waste management, social service, etc. Infrastructure development was made possible with the state’s and central governments’ financial support.
“As the university has achieved the A++ grade, we expect more students from here and foreign countries to avail of these facilities,” Vice Chancellor Dr. C.T. Aravidakumar said.
“The collective hard work of the University community made it possible. I thank the Syndicate members, Senate members, former Vice-chancellors, teachers, researchers, staff, students, and alumni. The peer team visit was an opportunity to understand the University’s growth, excellence, shortfalls, and possibilities and make necessary corrections,” he added.
